HCMC among world’s cheapest nightlife destinations
British travel magazine Time Out has ranked Ho Chi Minh City at sixth place among world’s 10 cheapest nightlife destinations with the average cost of £8.66 (US$11).
To compile the list, it used a metric created by U.K. tour operator Ski Vertigo which analyzes the cost of three beers, a 5-km taxi journey, and a McDonald’s meal across 183 major cities to see which is the friendliest for the budget of travelers.
China’s Guangzhou, famous for its bustling night-time activities, topped the list where the average nightlife cost was $9.35, followed by India’s Gurgaon ($10.36) and Egypt’s Alexandria ($10.46).
Two Indian cities Coimbatore ($10.81) and Kolkata ($10.92) ranked at fourth and fifth places.
The rest of the top 10 were China’s Shenzhen ($11.33), Tunis in Tunisia ($11.43), China’s Beijing ($11.75) and Indonesia’s Jakarta ($12.07).
HCMC, home to the famous Bui Vien backpacker precinct and pedestrian zones, is known for its night-time entertainment that remains open until late.
