Vietnam confirms 18 new Covid-19 community transmissions
The Health Ministry Thursday morning confirmed 18 new Covid-19 patients in the northern provinces of Quang Ninh and Hai Duong.
The three patients from Quang Ninh – numbered 2092 to 2094, are a 4-year-old boy, a 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man from Dong Trieu Town.
In Hai Duong, all 15 new patients – 2095 to 2109 – have been quarantined since last week.
In the last 24 hours, Vietnam has recorded 38 community transmissions of the coronavirus, with the total rising to 522 in 13 localities since January 28.
Hai Duong is the biggest hotspot to date with 356 cases, followed by Quang Ninh (57), Ho Chi Minh City (34), Hanoi (28), Gia Lai (26), Binh Duong (six), Bac Ninh (four), Dien Bien (three), Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Bac Giang (two each) and one each in Hai Phong and Ha Giang.
The nation’s Covid-19 tally of 2,109 has 1,480 recoveries sand 35 deaths. Of the active patients, 33 have tested negative for the virus at least once. More than 114,000 people are in quarantine – 19,000 in centralized facilities, over 700 in hospitals and the rest at home or other designated accommodations.
Globally, Covid-19 has infected over 108 million people and claimed more than 2.3 million lives.
