Vietnam’s My Son Sanctuary to slash entrance fee from June 1 to lure visitors

The My Son Management Board of Relics and Tourism on Thursday announced a promotion that will see entrance fees halved in some cases at My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO-recognized attraction in Quang Nam Province, central Vietnam.

In order to promote the ‘Vietnamese People Travel Vietnam’ program, which was initiated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and will last from June 1 to December 31, the board offers discounts on admission charges to encourage domestic tourists to visit the relics complex.

Accordingly, tour groups will be eligible for a 30 percent reduction in ticket prices while a 50 percent cut will be applied if such groups are Quang Nam residents.

A tour group must have at least three members.

The halved entrance fee is also applicable to groups of student travelers, but they will have to pay a service charge of VND30,000 (US$2.3) per ticket, which is effective nationwide.

Students under 16 years old will be exempt from the entrance fee.

Groups of ten tourists upwards will be offered a tour guide for free.

The tourists will have a chance to take a photo with the Champa music performers after their show.

Visitors will also be entitled to 10 percent off items sold at My Son Sanctuary’s souvenir stores.

All promotions are in place from June 1 to September 1.

My Son Sanctuary dates back to the 4th-13th centuries.

It was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1999.
