Vietnam’s Dong Nai issues level-2 digital ID accounts for over 200 foreigners
The police department in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam reported on Thursday that in the first two days of July 2025, officers provided guidance and issued level-2 digital identification (ID) accounts to more than 200 foreign nationals currently residing and working in the province.
These individuals are primarily executives and representatives of foreign direct investment (FDI) companies operating in Dong Nai.
The current Dong Nai Province is formed by merging the former Dong Nai and Binh Phuoc Provinces, effective from July 1.
To support foreigners in obtaining level-2 digital ID accounts, the immigration management unit under the provincial police has been disseminating information through social media channels, the official Facebook page of the provincial police, and business community groups.
Officers have been assigned to work overtime, stationed at guidance desks and biometric data collection points.
Interpreters fluent in English, Chinese, South Korean, and other languages have been also deployed to assist foreign applicants.
Thanks to these measures, many foreign nationals have been able to complete the procedure on-site without needing to travel to multiple locations, thereby improving overall satisfaction.
According to the immigration management unit, the initial days of the digital ID issuance saw occasional overloads and technical issues, which were promptly addressed by the immigration management unit and the Dong Nai police’s technical units.
Currently, Dong Nai Province hosts nearly 3,000 FDI enterprises and approximately 10,000 foreign nationals. As a result, the demand for the digital ID issuance is significant.
The issuance of level-2 digital ID accounts contributes to completing the national population database, streamlining administrative procedures, ensuring security, and supporting foreigners in integrating into the digital environment.
The immigration management unit in Dong Nai plans to continue working with businesses, industrial zones, and international organizations in the province to expand the coverage of digital ID issuance.
The level-2 digital ID accounts allow foreigners to access various digital services, including identity verification for banking transactions, housing registration, public services, and storage of electronic residence cards and legal documents through the VNeID application.
