Bamboo Airways to operate from Tan Son Nhat Airport’s T3 Terminal starting August 18
Starting from 12:00 am on August 18, Vietnamese airlines Bamboo Airways will move all domestic flight operations from Terminal T1 to the newly-built Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the airline’s announcement, this change applies to all passengers departing from or arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport on Bamboo Airways’ domestic flights from that time onward.
Passengers checking in at Terminal T3 on the first day will also help celebrate Bamboo Airways’ seventh anniversary.
“This is a special milestone marking seven years since the launch of Bamboo Airways,” a company representative said.
The airline has already notified passengers of the terminal change at the time of booking.
Bamboo Airways reminds travelers that for all domestic departures from Tan Son Nhat Airport, check-in will now take place at Terminal T3 instead of Terminal T1. Baggage claims for arriving flights will also be located in T3.
To assist passengers during the transition period, the airline has deployed ground staff and installed guidance signage throughout Teẻminal T3.
Detailed instructions and updates are being provided regularly via Bamboo Airways’ official website and Facebook page.
Earlier this month, the airline conducted surveys and installed check-in counters and equipment at T3 in preparation for the move.
Bamboo Airways becomes the second airline—after Vietnam Airlines—to officially operate at T3, the country’s largest domestic terminal.
Currently, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has three terminals with a combined annual capacity of 50 million passengers.
T1 and T3 handle domestic flights, while T2 is designated for international operations.
T3 officially opened on April 19.
Spanning 112,500 square meters with one basement and four above-ground floors, the new terminal incorporates smart airport technology.
Air passengers can use chip-based citizen ID cards or the VNeID app to complete check-in, baggage drop, security clearance, and boarding procedures through automated electronic gates.
Construction of T3 began in December 2022 at a total cost of some VND11 trillion (US$426 million).
The project comprises a passenger terminal, a multi-story parking facility with commercial services, an elevated road system, and an aircraft parking area.
The terminal is expected to serve more than 20 million passengers annually and handle up to 7,000 passengers per hour during peak times.
