Tan Son Nhat airport’s new T3 Terminal to host 5 domestic carriers from mid-August
The newly-built T3 Terminal at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City will handle all domestic carriers except Vietjet, which will continue operating at T1, from mid-August, a local airline representative said on Wednesday.
The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, which is already operating at T3, will be joined by Bamboo Airways from August 18, Pacific Airlines and VASCO from August 19, and Vietravel Airlines from August 21.
This will bring the number of domestic airlines at T3 to five.
Meanwhile, low-cost carrier Vietjet will not shift its domestic flight operations to T3 as initially planned. Instead, it continues operating at T1.
Regarding Bamboo Airways, it will shift all domestic flights from T1 to T3 starting 12:00 am on August 18.
Between August 18 and 25, Bamboo Airways passengers departing from T3 who miss their flight due to the terminal change may rebook for free on the next available flight if they arrive within 20 minutes of departure and staff confirm the reason.
Terminal T3 features 90 traditional check-in counters, 20 self-service drop-off counters, 42 kiosks, and 27 boarding gates.
Bamboo Airways’ check-in counters will be 45-50, which are opposite gates D2 and D3, with possible expansion to 43–52. Its last-minute ticket counter is located at gate D2.
Construction of T3 began in late 2022 at a total cost of some VND11 trillion (US$426 million).
The project comprises a passenger terminal, a multi-story parking facility with commercial services, an elevated road system, and an aircraft parking area.
The terminal is expected to serve more than 20 million passengers annually and handle up to 7,000 passengers per hour during peak times.
