Rugby School to open Vietnam campus from September
New setting will join schools in operation in Thailand, Japan, Nigeria and Dubai as the group continues its overseas expansion
Rugby School Global has announced it will open a new school in Hanoi, Vietnam, from September 2026 as part of its ongoing overseas growth.
The school, which will begin with pre-prep enrolments this year, followed by both prep and senior provision from September 2027, is being developed in partnership with Khai Sang Corporation.
It will be the ninth school in the group, and will sit alongside the main UK school, plus four other international schools in Thailand, Japan, Nigeria and Dubai, and three UK prep schools.
Hanoi has ‘impressive energy’
Dr Neil Hampton, CEO of Rugby School Global, said: “We are delighted to be opening a school in Hanoi, a city of impressive energy and cultural depth.
“Our joint ambition is to cultivate young people of character, integrity and compassion, preparing them not only for academic distinction but for lives of meaning, responsibility and service in Vietnam and the wider world.”
The decision to open another site abroad will be welcomed by the UK government, which made international school expansion a key pillar of its recently unveiled International Education Strategy.
Vietnam has become an increasingly popular destination for international schools, with data from ISC Research showing a 24 per cent increase in schools since 2020, from 292 to 362. This has led to teacher numbers growing from 10,941 to 15,083, too.
Other private school groups are also expanding their overseas footprints, such as Wellington opening in Nigeria and Malvern College confirming last week it would open a school in São Paolo, Brazil.
