Vietnam semi plan

Vietnam intends to have 3 fabs, 300 design houses and 20 packaging and test facilities by 2050, according to a semiconductor industry plan signed off by Prime Minister Pham Minh.

Between 2024 and 2030, Vietnam’s semiconductor plan is to attract foreign investment to build capabilities in research, design, manufacturing, packaging, and testing.

In this period the aim is to establish 100 design companies, one small semiconductor chip manufacturing plant, and 10 packaging and testing facilities.

By 2030, the plan is to have annual semiconductor industry revenue of over $25 billion, with a value-added contribution of 10-15%.

By 2030, the workforce in the semiconductor sector is projected to be over 50,000 engineers and university graduates.

Between 2030 and 2040, the goal is to establish 200 design companies, 2 fabs and 15 packaging and testing facilities. .

By 2040, annual semiconductor industry revenue is expected to reach over $50 billion, with a value-added contribution of 15-20%. 

Between 2040 and 2050, Vietnam plans to have established  300 design companies, three fabs, and 20 packaging and testing facilities.

By 2050, the country aims to achieve annual semiconductor industry revenue exceeding $100 billion, with a value-added contribution of 20-25%.
