HCMC records second Covid-19 death
A 75-year-old Covid-19 patient in Ho Chi Minh City has been announced dead, making the 67th Covid-19 fatality in Vietnam and the second in the city.
Living in the city’s District 8, this patient was confirmed to die of pneumonia caused by Covid-19, complications of progressive respiratory failure, sepsis, multi-organ failure, septic shock in patients with hypertension, type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia.
He got Covid-19 on June 14 and was treated at the city’s Covid-19 field hospital in Cu Chi District.
His conditions worsened over time due to his chronic diseases, and he had to rely on the ventilator.
He died on Sunday, making the country’s 32th death in the new wave that broke out less than two months ago.
For the ongoing wave, Vietnam has recorded 10,078 community cases in 42 cities and provinces.
HCMC on Sunday overtook northern Bac Ninh Province to become the locality with the second-highest number of local infections in the new wave. Its case count has reached 1,714.
