Long Thanh airport relocation budget gets $39M more
The relocation project for residents at Long Thanh International Airport has been granted an additional VND966 billion ($39.61 million), which had been inaccessible up until now due to red tape.
The decision on the new funding was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai Thursday.
The total cost of the relocation is VND22.86 trillion, which was supposed to be disbursed completely by the end of 2022. However, only VND16.7 trillion was disbursed at the time.
So far Dong Nai Province, where the airport is being constructed, has confiscated nearly 99% of land needed to build it, or 4,882 hectares.
The province has approved for 4,161 households to be relocated.
In November the National Assembly voted in favor of extending the relocation project deadline by two years until the end of this year.
Long Thanh International Airport in the southern province of Dong Nai has an estimated cost of VND336.63 trillion and a designed capacity of 100 million passengers annually.
Its first phase, with a capacity of 25 million passengers, is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
